Introduction
This year – 2017 – has been a great year for ABC Coaching and Counselling Services, and the Institute for E-CENT.
Firstly, Jim completed 19 years in private practice as a coach, counsellor, psychotherapist; helping more than 1,000 people in the process.
Secondly, Renata completed her first 5 years at ABC, building upon her 35 years in further education, including the teaching of counselling, stress management and diet and nutrition courses.
Thirdly, Jim and Renata published two new books on counselling-related topics, as follows:
– How to control your anger, anxiety and depression, using nutrition and physical exercise
And Jim published a fictionalized and fantasized version of his personal mythology – which is also an exploration of his self-analysis, from childhood to the age of 40 years. He promotes it as an autobiographical novel – but it is really an exploration of how to use narrative and myth to explore one’s own journey through life. This is it:

Prospects for 2018

We are excited by our work plans for 2018.
Jim plans to publish a three volume series on couple relationships, based on his 19 years’ experience of providing couples therapy to dozens of couples. And he plans to start writing about the question of how counsellors can best understand the relationship between what we call ‘thinking’, and what we call ‘feeling’.
Renata is enjoying researching and creating a new study, for a book on the impact of sleep on our health and happiness – and our emotional wellbeing, – and how meditation enhances and supports the sleep process.
We will continue to see individual clients, for which services our fees will be increased from January 2018. (These increases will not apply to our existing clients, until the middle of March. But they will apply to new clients with immediate effect).

We want to take this opportunity to wish everybody a very happy and peaceful and restful Christmas, Yuletide, Hanukkah, and Winter Holiday 2017-8.
Our highest wish for you in 2018 is this: That you love each other, and strive for good mental health!
Jim and Renata

ABC Newsletter
6th July 2016
This is the first substantial Newsletter since September 2015. In this issue, we include the most important developments of the recent past, from ABC Coaching and Counselling Services, and the Institute for E-CENT.
New book on Holistic Counselling in Practice
The big event of the recent past has been the announcement, on 4th July, that our new book is now available at Amazon. This book is entitled, Holistic Counselling in Practice: An introduction to Emotive Cognitive Embodied Narrative Therapy (E-CENT)***
In announcing the book, we made a number of points, including the following:
“We are changeable and complex creatures, and our diets, exercise regimes and thoughts; the amount and quality of sleep; the quality of personal relationships; our social and financial situations; and the general level of stress hormones in our bodies; all play a significant part in how we experience our lives.
“To change our lives for the better, we have to take all these factors into account. Otherwise the changes we desire won’t come about, or won’t last. It’s not enough to simply change your self-talk, or inner dialogue, or to think more positively, or to visualize a better life for yourself!
“That’s why, after fifteen years of research into most of the major theories of therapy, (Dr Jim Byrne has) created a counselling model which finally takes all of these important aspects of human functioning into account.”

Free Public Talk on E-CENT Counselling
On Saturday 20th August, at 10.30am, there will be a free public talk, for one hour, on the subject of E-CENT counselling. If you are in the UK at that time, and near to Hebden Bridge, you would be welcome to come along. The details of the event are as follows:
Meet the Author:
Dr Jim talks about ‘Holistic Counselling in Practice’
At Hebden Bridge Town Hall, in The Space (meeting room), St George’s St, Hebden Bridge HX7 7BY.

Session ends by 11.30pm.
The café downstairs would be a good place to congregate to at the end of the presentation, to reflect on the event, to network, and where a light lunch and refreshments will be on sale.
